There were no schools like we have today in the time of Leonardo. People of the time learned trades from a Master, someone who was skilled at a specific trade. Leonardo da Vinci was an apprentice to the Master Verrocchio in Florence, Italy. The village priest of Vinci taught him some basics. Leonardo was then apprenticed to the Florentine artist Andrea del Verrocchio. He studied in Verrocchio's Workshop for 10 years between 1466-1476
